| The gorgeous 645Ci luxury coupe is a far more involving drive than its predecessor, the bloated 8 -Series, and the 645Ci convertible is unrivalled by any other mainstream production soft-top. |

| BMW's V8-engined 6-Series was designed to drive as well as its purposeful looks promised: and it delivers. A large, heavy car, its superbly-engineered chassis propels it around bends and tight turns as if it were a lightweight roadster, and it is never less than impeccably-behaved and flattering to its driver though you can switch off its traction control and other electronic aids should you aim for hooligan tail-sliding. Far better, though, to relax in the well-shaped seats, ergonomically intuitive cockpit and wonderfully-refined cabin. The fabric-hooded convertible is well-insulated, and comes pretty close to tin-topped drop-tops in terms of body rigidity with only slight hints of scuttle shake over rough surfaces; roof-down gives the ideal opportunity to enjoy the glorious V8 engine's roar. The two rear seats are ample, and luggage room generous. The 6 is not cheap, but it's unbeatable this side of a Bentley Continental GT. |
